What is Cardalis?

Cardalis tablets for dogs are a prescription-only medication intended for the treatment of congestive heart failure in dogs. This disease is caused when your dog's heart has been damaged, meaning it can no longer pump blood around their body effectively. Caradlis chewable tablets work to try and ease the strain on the heart and improve your dog's symptoms.

You can buy Cardalis online from us in the following sizes:

As a prescription-only medication, Cardalis may only be purchased once we have seen a valid prescription from your vet.

What Does Cardalis Do?

There are two active ingredients in Cardalis tablets: benazepril hydrochloride and spironolactone.

Spironolactone blocks a hormone called aldosterone which causes the kidneys to retain salt and water in the body, which then increases the amount of salt and water excreted in the urine. This decreases the overall blood volume in your dog's body, lessening how hard your dog's heart needs to work to pump blood through the body.

The benazepril, once in the body, is converted to benazeprilat which works to lower the production of certain substances that narrow the blood vessels, allowing them to relax and widen. This, in turn, allows your dog's blood pressure to drop and reduces the load on the heart.

How Long Does Cardalis Take to Work?

Once treatment with Cardalis starts, you may begin to see improvement in your dog's symptoms and quality of life within one week. These improvements should continue as treatment progresses.

Can You Buy Caradlis Without a Vet Prescription?

All Cardalis products are prescription-only veterinary medicines, which means they can only be purchased using a valid, in-date prescription from your vet.

You can learn more about ordering a prescription medicine for your pet from Pet Drugs Online on our prescription information page. For your pet's safety, always be wary of any organisation offering to sell Cardalis or any other prescription-only veterinary medicines without a prescription.

Please note, while we have an onsite vet to oversee the sales of prescription medicines, we do not offer veterinary consultations or advice.
