Instructions
To change your dog’s food, we recommend a gradual transition to help avoid stomach upsets. Generally, this takes around 7 days, but monitoring your dog to ensure the transition is going well is always a good idea.
To start the transition, introduce the new food as a low proportion of their old, we recommend a 25% new food to 75% old food ratio and gradually increase the new-to-old food ratio over 7 days until your dog has completely transitioned to the new food. Ensure to monitor your dog’s behaviour and food consumption over this period.
We recommend a 25% new food to 75% old food ratio for the first few days, and if all the signs are good, move to 50%/50% after 4 days and 75%/25% after 6 days. Finally, move to 100% of new food after 7 or 8 days if your dog responds well and tolerates the new food.
In addition, we would recommend keeping your regular feeding routine, mealtimes and eating areas the same while you are transitioning your dog to their new food. Please talk with your veterinarian if you have concerns about your dog over this transition.
