What Are the Best Dog Treats?

Just like us humans, treats in moderation aren’t always a bad thing. However, it’s best to choose a natural dog treat with natural ingredients if possible. Whether you’re feeding your dog chews, bites or dog biscuits our range of dog treats only includes vet-trusted brands. we have a reward to suit any pooch, even hypoallergenic treats for sensitive tums. For younger dogs, check out our puppy treats.

Which is the best dog treat depends on your dogs' preferences. A treat should be something that your pup really enjoys, it should be to your dog what chocolate is to humans. There are a variety of types of treats to choose from, which are suitable for different purposes and tastes. Here are the types of treats that you can choose from:

Training treats

Treats are often vital for training your dog. If you want to keep your dog’s attention and motivate them to obey your commands, dog training treats should be small and extra delicious. And the smellier the better! If you're going through a lot of training with your dog, you do need to be careful not to give them too many training treats, a good rule of thumb for the amount of dog training treats you offer, is around 10% of your dog’s daily calories.

Dog Chews

Most natural dog chew treats are safe for dogs and provide lots of health benefits. Antler chews, for example, are a great natural dog treat, as they provide calcium and other minerals, don't splinter and satisfy your dog's urge to chew. Dog chews can help keep your dog's teeth clean and relieve boredom, this can even help with anxiety in dogs. Remember, digestible chew treats for dogs are not always recommend for daily consumption so always read feeding instructions carefully.

Dental sticks for dogs

Dog dental chews are popular with dog owners who struggle to clean their pet’s teeth with a brush and dog toothpaste. They come in all sorts of shapes, sizes, and flavours. There are also dental sticks available for dogs with sensitive stomachs and specific health conditions. Dental sticks work by scraping the surface of the teeth, gum line and inside of the mouth. If you’re giving your dog a dental stick for the first time, it’s best to supervise them and always provide fresh water.

Healthy dog treats

Healthy dog treats don’t mean boring treats which your dog will turn his nose up at! Healthy usually means natural ingredients or treats made from vegetables. These treats don’t contain lots of sugary or artificially sweetened ingredients, and are generally low in starch and salt. The ingredients of health treats usually means that they are naturally low calorie and low fat too, making them perfect for pooches that need to lose a few pounds.

Whether you're looking for a boredom breaker treat for your dog, or training treats to teach your dog new tricks, we have plenty in our range to choose from. If you're not sure which treat you need, you can contact our team.
