What is Loxicom For Dogs?

Loxicom is a painkiller and anti-inflammatory medication for cats and dogs. It is used to treat various conditions, including chronic musculoskeletal disorders, like inflammation associated with osteoarthritis in dogs. It can also be used for acute, short-term disorders, such as after surgery or an injury.

The active ingredient, Meloxicam, is a class of medicine known as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is used to reduce symptoms such as pain, inflammation and fever.

This medicine is available as either an oral suspension for dogs (various strengths) and/or cats and as chewable tablets for dogs only. It is used to treat either acute or chronic musculoskeletal disorders in various forms depending on your pet's needs.

You should only ever use medications as prescribed by your vet and for the animal stated on the packaging. Loxicom for cats should never be used in dogs or the other way around.

Loxicom for Dogs Side Effects

When treating your pet with prescription medication, there is always a chance of side effects. These are outlined in detail in the product's data sheet and will be discussed with you by your vet at the time of prescription. Some of the most common side effects of Meloxicam products may include:

  • - Loss of appetite
  • - Vomiting
  • - Diarrhoea
  • - Blood in stool

These side effects are typically seen within the first week of treatment and stop after the treatment ends. If you want to know more about the potential side effects of Loxicom, consult your vet or refer to the datasheet provided.

If you have any worries or questions about your pet before or during their treatment, be sure to talk to your veterinarian who can advise on managing any side effects of Loxicom.

Does Loxicom Make Dogs Sleepy?

Lethargy (lack of energy) is a common side effect when treating your pet with Loxicom. This may be seen as fatigue, lack of enthusiasm for usual activities, decreased motivation, and even a decreased appetite. If your pet is exhibiting any of these symptoms, it is important to contact your veterinarian for further advice.

How Long Does Loxicom Take to Work?

How long it takes for the medicine to work may vary from pet to pet, but most owners report seeing an improvement in their pet's condition within a few hours. However, it may take 3-4 days to see the full response. If your pet has not improved after 7 days, consult your vet for further advice.
