The role of dietary management in struvite-related Lower Urinary Tract Diseases (LUTD) is to provide a proper balance of total nutrients while meeting the special dietary needs of the patient, encouraging acidification of urine which can help reduce the formation of struvite crystals and stones while meeting the nutritional needs of the animal. UR provides complete and balanced nutrition for adult maintenance and have been formulated to achieve the following characteristics: increased potassium - avoids risks of hypokalemia, high digestibility - compensate for loss of appetite in some dogs that helps control urinary tract infection through the target Urinary pH : 6.0+/-0.2. Important: not all cases of canine lower urinary tract disease are associated with struvite crystals or stones so it is important to consult your vet and conduct appropriate tests before making a change to your pet's diet.
