What are Milbemax Worming Tablets? 

Milbemax for dogs is a prescription grade medication meant for the treatment and prevention of common intestinal worms in dogs, including: 

  • Roundworm
  • Hookworm
  • Whipworm
  • Tapeworm
  • Heartworm infections (For prevention only. Please consult your vet before use if your dog has travelled to a heartworm endemic area).

How Does Milbemax Work? 

The key ingredients in Milbemax worming tablets for dogs are Milbemycin Oxime and Praziquantel. Both of these ingredients work by disrupting the nervous system of the worms, resulting in their paralysis and death.

How to Store Milbemax Dog Tablets 

All Milbemax dog worming tablets come prepared in blister pack packaging and should not be opened until you are ready to administer them to your dog. While in the blister pack packaging, Milbemax tablets should not be stored above 25 °C and have a shelf life of 2 years. Keep the blister packaging in the outer carton in order to protect it from light. 

Any unused Milbemax tablets should be appropriately disposed of either through your vet or at a suitable Disposal Of Old Pharmaceuticals (DOOP) Bin. 

Administration Instructions:

Important Safety Information 

  • Milbemax Worming Tablets should not be used in: 
  • Dogs weighing less than 5 kg.
  • Cases of hypersensitivity to the active substances or to any of excipients.
  • Do not use Milbemax Dog wormers in cats. Instead, use the Milbemax Tasty Cat Wormer. 
  • Milbemax is not recommended for use in severely debilitated dogs or individuals with seriously compromised kidney or liver function. 

Adverse Reactions 

On very rare occasions the following reactions can occur in dogs after Milbemax administration.

  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Lethargy
  • Neurological signs (muscle tremors and unsteadiness)
  • Gastrointestinal signs 

Please consult your vet immediately if your dog shows any adverse reactions following milbemax administration. 

How to Administer Milbemax Worming Tablets for Large Dogs 

If you are treating more than one pet in your household, it is recommended you treat them all at the same time. The number of tablets you should give your dog will be stated on your prescription as advised by your vet based on your dog’s body weight. Do not give any more or fewer tablets to your pet unless advised otherwise by a veterinary professional. 

Milbemax worming tablets should be administered orally to your dog with, or just after food. 

Always wash your hands after administering Milbemax tablets.

A - Yes! Milbemax worming tablets can be used to treat and prevent lungworm infections however please consult your vet regarding using Milbemax for this purpose as an altered dosing regime may be indicated.

A - Milbemax worming tablets can be given routinely to your adult dog once every three months. For younger dogs, or dogs who are pregnant or lactating, as well as those with a specific infection, speak with your vet on the appropriate dosage amounts and frequency for Milbemax administration.
