Onsior®

Onsior for cats and dogs is an anti-inflammatory drug used to treat pain and inflammation in acute and chronic musculoskeletal disorders in cats or dogs. Onsior for dogs is typically used to treat symptoms of osteoarthritis. 

Please note, Onsior should not be used in dogs under 3 months of age or weighing less than 2.5 kg, nor should it be used in cats weighing less than 2.5 kg or under 4 months of age. Onsior also must not be used in lactating animals.

Onsior for dogs is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that blocks cyclooxygenase 2, an enzyme that produces prostaglandins that cause pain and inflammation. This blockage helps reduce pain and inflammation caused by musculoskeletal disorders, surgery, and osteoarthritis.

Once administered, Onsior begins to work within 1-2 hours and has been shown to reduce pain and improve mobility in pets quickly. 

As with any prescription medicine, there are some potential side effects when treating your pet with Onsior. However, these side effects tend to be mild and go away without needing treatment. These adverse reactions include:

• - Vomiting
• - Diarrhoea
• - Blood in stool
• - Decreased appetite

Onsior tablets are to be administered orally at least 30 minutes before or after your pet has eaten to ensure efficacy and as per your vet's instructions. They may be given a little bit of food to aid in administering. 

You should not attempt to crush Onsior tablets or split them, as this can impact their effectiveness. They are, however, palatable tablets which most cats or dogs easily accept.

Onsior can be used long-term to treat chronic musculoskeletal disorders in dogs or cats. However, this must only be done under strict monitoring by your vet and under their advice.
