I can not review Cavalesse on it's effectiveness as a sweet itch treatment only on a beneficial consequence. Our Welsh Mountain Pony does not suffer sweet itch but has Congestive Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which is always worse during the summer months and was being treated with Ventipulmin and steroids - our vet suggested that we try her on Ecuphar Cavaless Oral sweet itch treatment in conjunction with these as he had been advised that horses who had been given this for sweet itch but who also had respiratory problems it had been found the respiratory condition improved. There was a marked improvement in our pony and so we have continued to give her Cavalesse through the summer months for the last 5 years.
Have been using this to keep my ponies sweet itch at bay for a number of years. After having tried many lotions and potions I find it is the best for her.
Fabulous product for sweet itch. This is the fourth year we have used Cavalesse and our pony is so much happier. He has a decent mane and tail over the summer months which he didn't before using the product.
Used this for the first time last year for my horse who suffers with severe sweet itch and it was amazing. Although he will eat anything, it wouod be great for those who would struggle with fussy eaters, as it's a clear, tastless liquid and you only have to feed 2.5/3ml a day. This takes 2 weeks to a month to get into the system, but once it was working it was brilliant. This really took away all of the existing itchiness, and he didn't itch again the rest of the summer. We couldn't have got through the summer without feeding this (combined with a Boett rug).
My second batch of cavalesse. Thankfully my pony just gets itchy mane and tail - i use cavalesse alongside a tried and relied upon strong horse midge/fly repellent. i think the cavalesse seems to have given him even more protection this year on the really bad midgey days. So far anyway.
