Hilton Herbs® Psyllium Husks are ideal as a digestive aid for horses, particularly those kept on sandy or gravelly paddocks or turnout areas. When ingested, the Psyllium swells and forms a mucilaginous and gel-like substance that, as it passes through the digestive system, acts as a hydroscopic sponge, soaking up and helping to clear any unwanted foreign material (such as sandy deposits and indigestible roughage). Many vets recommend the use of Psyllium for horses kept on sandy soils. When feeding Psyllium, it is essential that the horse has access to water and is allowed free movement in a paddock or turnout area to maintain healthy digestive movement.
