"Great product recommended by specialist for dog."/ (Posted on
"This product was recommended by the vet. My dog Millie switched to this food with no problems. The food coupled with medication seems seems to lessen the effect of dementia."/ (Posted on

"An absolutely excellent product.
After being referred to a specialist at the Royal Veterinary College's Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Potters Barr, one of our dogs was diagnosed with "canine cognitive dysfunction", which is akin to human dementia or Alzheimer's. Whilst there is no cure, there are certain options that can help manage/improve the symptoms (for dog and owner/s!), and the neurologist suggested that we start by trying a specific diet - Hills b/d Canine - for approximately 6-8 weeks. Although feeling highly sceptical, we agreed to give it a go. Within a few weeks of commencing it our dog showed some marginal improvement, but we weren't sure whether this was due to both her and/or us beginning to adapt to the new behaviour/situation, or the food.
After 6-8 weeks, she was a different dog - not her usual old self, and definitely not 100% better, but far less anxious, more alert, and she is now re-learning old skills; she also sleeps far better, now often sleeping through most of the night as opposed to being continually awake, restless, climbing, clawing, anxious and distressed for up to 72 hours or so at a time, and then crashing for a few hours or days before the next such episode began.
The neurologist said that they'd had very good results with a high percentage of dogs that had switched onto this diet, and I'm delighted with the improvement that we've experienced so far. Had we decided to skip trying this diet and instead resort straight to trying drugs, then we and our dog could have had the delights of having to deal with some unpleasant side effects, as well as the possibility of the medication costing a lot more than the price of the food - cost aside, I know which option I prefer; thank you, Hills."/ (Posted on
"Does exactly what it says on the tin (or in this case resealable bag). Expensive but worth it."/ (Posted on
