For cases of temporary renal insufficiency a period of 2 to 4 weeks feeding is recommended.
About Renal Cat Food: Renal cat food could mean a huge improvement in the quality of life for your cat. Cats with kidney problems can be disinterested in eating but renal cat food has been especially formulated by nutritionists at Royal Canin to be incredibly palatable for cats, tempting them to feed. The nutritionists have also ensured that even a small amount of renal cat food can give your pet a huge boost, with high-energy density providing sufficient calorie intake in smaller portions.
Renal cat food cuts down the amount of work a cat’s kidneys have to do, with added Omega 3 fatty acids and anti-oxidants that support the kidneys in their work, renal cat food can also reduce the toxic build-up of materials that could otherwise make your cat poorly.

Ordering online not only saves me money on the food but petrol money too as I don't have to drive to the vet to collect it.
Cats eat it because they have no choice but can’t say they love it. Bland and tasteless.. and yes have tasted it!
Has improved my VERY elderly cat's condition over the past 18 months after our vet reckoned it wouldn't be long till he passed - so palliative care.... he obviously hasn't reached his ninth life just yet!
