Equest® PRAMOX Oral Gel Wormer for Horses 19.5mg/g + 121.7mg/g is for the treatment and control of adult and larval stages of internal parasites, including small redworms, large redworms and bots in horses and ponies. Given the recommended dose, it effectively controls moxidectin-sensitive strains of most common parasites. Equest® PRAMOX Oral Gel Wormer also has a persistent effect in preventing infection against small strongyles for 2 weeks after the recommended dose is given.

Equest® PRAMOX Oral Gel Wormer for Horses 19.5mg/g + 121.7mg/g is supplied in a 14.8g syringe of oral gel containing 18.92mg/g moxidectin, 37.84 mg/g benzyl alcohol and 0.24 mg/g disodium edetate as preservatives.

One syringe contains enough gel to treat a 700kg horse at the recommended dose rate. The syringe is split into graduations, and each graduation is equivalent to a 25kg dose. A weigh tape or scale is recommended before administering Equest gel to ensure accurate dosing.

Withdrawal period: Meat and offal is 64 days.

Instructions

For oral administration. A single oral dose of 400 microgram moxidectin/kg bodyweight and 2.5mg praziquantel/kg bodyweight using the calibrated syringe of one graduation per 25kg bodyweight.

To ensure administration of a correct dosage, bodyweight should be determined as accurately as possible; the accuracy of the dosing should be checked. The use of a scale or weight tape is recommended to ensure accurate dosing.

  • Before the first dose, hold the syringe with the capped end pointing to the left and so that you can see the weight measurements and tick marks (small black lines)
  • Set the syringe to zero by moving the dial ring so the left side is set at the first full black mark and depress the plunger, safely discarding any expelled paste
  • To dose the product, hold the syringe as previously described. Each tick mark relates to 25kg of bodyweight and to 10mg moxidectin/62.5mg praziquantel
  • Turn the dial ring until the left side of the ring lines up with the animal's weight

Care should be taken to accurately dose foals, especially low-weight or pony foals to avoid overdosing.

Veterinary advice should be given on appropriate dosing programmes and stock management to achieve optimum parasite control. After opening, use within 6 months.
