How to tell if your dog is stressed
There are some events such as fireworks and other loud noises which are known to cause anxiety in many dogs, but how about more subtle, environmental changes such as house moves or new pets at home? What signs should you look for to see if your dog is stressed?
Excessive barking, destructive behaviours, avoidance (of people or other dogs), pinned ears and excessive shedding can all be signs of stress.
As well as medication like Zylkene for dogs, other support you can give your dog are exercise (not just a great stress reliever for humans), routine and rules.
How to tell if your cat is stressed
Excessive behaviours such as grooming or scratching could be a sign your cat is stressed. Also pay attention to where they toilet. If your cat usually uses a litter box or a specific area outside, changes to this can be a sign of distress.
Other indications are changes to social behaviour such as aggression towards other animals or people. And finally a reduction in much-loved sleep is a sign of stress in cats.
If you suspect your cat is suffering from stress or anxiety, try Zylkene for cats. Other ways you can help are to follow a more normalised routine and play with your cat more.
Speak to your vet if you think your cat or dog is suffering from long-term anxiety.
