Vetmedin Capsules 5mg
Vetmedin Capsules (also known as Vetmedin Hard Capsules) are for the treatment of congestive heart failure originating from dilated cardiomyopathy or valvular insufficiency in dogs.
There are a range of different heart conditions, typically where the valves of the heart are leaky or the heart itself is enlarged, which means that blood is less effectively circulated around the body. Vetmedin looks to aid the pumping of the blood by way of strengthening the heart muscle.
It is a Prescription Only Veterinary Medicine, and so a valid prescription must be presented to complete the order.
It is supplied in 5mg capsules, either individually or in packs of 100. Each capsule is white to orange in colour and contains 5mg pimobendan as the active ingredient per capsule; with the colouring agents: titanium dioxide (1.2320 mg/capsule) and Sunset Yellow (0.3080 mg/capsule).
Vetmedin Capsules are administered orally; normally 1 hour before feeding and the daily dose divided into two equal administrations (with a 12 hour gap). Giving Vetmedin Hard Capsules (pimobendan) with food or shortly thereafter reduces the effectiveness of the treatment. Although the precise dosage and frequency will be determined by your vet, after a consultation, so please listen carefully to their instructions.
Vetmedin Hard Capsules should be stored in a dry place and below 25 degrees centigrade. 100 capsule packs are supplied in high density plastic bottles with child resistant caps. Single capsules are supplied in hard plastic brown medicine bottles with child-resistant caps. These bottles should be kept closed between administrations. It is for animal treatment only and should be kept out of sight and reach of children.
Your veterinary surgeon will normally advise which formulation is most suitable for your dog.

For Light items (under 2kg) our standard method is Royal Mail Second Class (there are a few exceptions, so if in doubt check our Delivery page).
To get it faster you can upgrade Light items to Royal Mail 1st Class or a Guaranteed Next Day Courier service, Saturday Courier or even before 12 noon services. There's a small fee, but if you're in a hurry they are worth considering. To qualify for next working day delivery, orders must be placed before 12 Noon Monday to Thursday. There is no standard Saturday courier delivery.
Heavy items weighing 2kg and more are sent via courier. If ordered before noon Monday to Thursday, Heavy items will be delivered next working day. Heavy items ordered after 12 Noon Friday, or anytime Saturday and Sunday will dispatched on Monday for a Tuesday delivery.
Please note that if you are purchasing a mix of Light and Heavy items at the same time, these will be sent separately. The Heavy items being sent by Courier, the Light items by Royal Mail Second Class.
