How Much Burns Dry Food Should I Feed My Pet?
When it comes to giving your dog a healthy diet, quantity is just as important as quality. How much food you give your pet depends on their weight, age and lifestyle.
When it comes to dogs, as a general rule, it is recommended to feed:
- 20g per 1kg of body weight per day of Puppy food.
- 15g per 1kg of body weight per day of Junior food.
- 10g per 1kg of body weight per day of Adult food.
- 8g per 1kg of body weight per day of Senior food.
For cats, the amount differs. It is recommended to feed:
- 35g for 2kg cats per day
- 45g for 3kg cats per day
- 55g for 4kg cats per day
- 70g for 5kg cats per day
- 80g for 6kg cats per day
There is also supplementary dietary food for rabbits available, which should account for 20% of a primarily hay-based diet.
Always make sure that you are feeding your pet the appropriate food for their age range. If your pet is overweight, base the daily amount on target weight, not actual weight. You can find specific feeding guides for individual Burns food on the packaging of every Burns product.
