What is Atopica Oral Solution?
Atopica Oral Solution is for treatment of signs of chronic allergic dermatitis (a form of allergic skin disease) in cats and chronic manifestations of atopic dermatitis in dogs. Atopica for cats and dogs is clinically proven to reduce itchy skin and also provides long-term relief from symptoms without the use of steroids.
Atopica Oral Solution is a prescription medication and will only be sent once a valid prescription is received. If you would like advice on how to send your pet’s prescription to us, please read our prescriptions information page.
How Does Atopica Work?
The active ingredient in Atopica is Ciclosporin, an immunomodulatory drug commonly used to treat atopic dermatitis in dogs and allergic dermatitis in cats.
Ciclosporin suppresses your pet’s reaction to allergic triggers offering relief from symptoms of atopic dermatitis. However, as an immunosuppressant, pet’s can be left more open to infections when taking Atopica treatments. Please see the product information sheet for further information on this.
Atopica may also be prescribed to treat other conditions caused by an immune system response, such as hemolytic anaemia, perineal fistula, and keratoconjunctivitis sicca. However, you should only give Atopica to treat the condition diagnosed by your vet.
It is available in
- 5ml and 7ml bottles.
How to Store Atopica Oral Solution
Atopica Oral Solution should be stored between 15°C and 30°C. However, this product contains oily components of natural origin that may become solid at lower temperatures. This change can be reversed with higher temperatures, but this product should still not be stored below 20°C for long periods.
Once opened, 5ml and 17ml bottles of Atopica Oral Solution have a shelf life of 70 days.
